Prolonged Exposure (PE)

Exposure therapy is a form of CBT used to help clients confront feared situations. Prolonged Exposure is the use of safe real-life exposures and imaginal exposure (this is the retelling of the trauma) repeatedly and prolonged over 8-15 sessions of 60-90 minutes. This evidence-based treatment helps clients to reduce avoidance behaviors, decrease post-traumatic symptoms such as anxiety and hypervigilance, and improve negative beliefs about self/trauma.
