Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy/CBT is the most well studied and evidence-supported psychological treatment. The “cognitive” in CBT refers to our thinking and thoughts. The behavioral is whatever we are doing based on our thoughts. The Anxiety & OCD Treatment Center of Central Pennsylvania uses CBT and many other CBT-based treatments to help you change old beliefs, dysfunctions in thinking, and improve behaviors. Some of the other treatments that fall under the CBT umbrella that we can use to help you improve your life and learn new skills are: Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Trauma-focused CBT (TF-CBT), and CBT for Insomnia (CBT-I). Many clients like the fact that CBT provides specific target goals and that you are given homework and tools to use outside of sessions.
