Rachel Zimmerman, MA, APC, NCC

Rachel is an associate professional and nationally certified counselor. She is being supervised by Shannon Weise, MSW, LCSW, and is working on obtaining her LPC. Rachel graduated from Pennsylvania State University with her B.S. in psychology and from Northwestern University with her M.A. in counseling and has completed their Child and Adolescent Specialization program. Rachel has worked as a mental health counselor in an outpatient setting and in intensive behavioral health services (IBHS) with children and adolescents for over five years.

Rachel has experience working with clients of all ages and backgrounds, using approaches, such as ACT, ERP, CBT, and play therapy methods. She is passionate about learning and continuing to to grow as a therapist. Rachel’s clinical experience includes OCD, ADHD, autism, social anxiety, phobias, depression, relationship concerns, academic stress, and general life transitions. Rachel believes the therapeutic relationship to be an integral part of the counseling process and is constantly working to build a sense of trust, empathy, and safety. Rachel believes this relationship can be life changing. She leads with compassion, understanding, and respect in her work as a counselor, and centers multiculturalism, advocacy, and social justice with every client.

Outside of her role as a therapist, Rachel enjoys reading, her two cats, playing chess, engaging in creative hobbies, and spending time with loved ones.
